Icelandic Recreation

While in Iceland there is always more than enough to do.
If you decide to stay in Reykjavik there is always the flourishing Nightlife and during the day there are shopping centres, Golf, 10-pin Bowling (in Icelandic), swimming, museums and galleries (Nordic Museums, http://www.akranes.is/museum/ and http://www.listasafn.is/english/first_page.htm), various trips from the BSI coach station or you can go for walks and hikes in and around Reykjavik.

Hiking, movies and more
A particularly good place for biking and hiking is "Heidmork" on the outskirts of the Reykjavik area. There, lots of families go for Sunday walks, more often than not with their dogs as well. Heidmork is very beautiful and peaceful and has also got some interesting small caves, but probably best not to go into them without someone who has been before. At one end of Heidmork you will also find "Raudholar" which are amazing red lava hills (seen in the background in the main picture on hest1.com).

There are also a lot of cinemas with excellent quality screens (http://www.leit.is/bio/ - movie listings in Icelandic) and skiing is available just outside Reykjavik in the wintertime when the weather is right. Other activities for the evenings include theatre, concerts and many other things.

Most of this applies for other larger towns in Iceland as well. Also check the other sections here on this site, including Travel, Food, Reykjavik, Whales and more.

Glaciers
Lastly, offering glacier Jeep-Trips are Arctic Ice and Iceland SuperJeeps. For white water rafting, snowmobile trips and other adventures try Icelandic Adventures.
